Just a quick post to mention the couple of fics I wrote for dmhgficexchange. Authors have been revealed for a week now, but I've only just had time to post about it.

In both cases, the fics were written based on a song and they're both one-shots. I was a pinch hitter for the second fic and I think was actually more inspired than for the first one I wrote. The first fic is about Draco and Hermione in a secret relationship while the second fic is less about love and more about snark!

And completely off-topic, my friend told me the new Wolverine movie trailer was on youtube earlier today and I'm so psyched!! You guys can check it out here - it looks AWESOME!!!

I was in London this past weekend with my parents, picking up the rest of my stuff from various friends' flats. It was pretty tiring and the drive back was so looong! Since I got back I've been busy sorting, cleaning and finding space for my stuff, which was a relief as I got all my books again along with my notebooks I use for writing, but also just an accumulation of random crap I kept throughout the past year.

Anyway, two things today...

1) My one-shot for elyaeru is finally here!

2) I won draco_chorus' icon challenge #84! The icon I sent in was actually the first one I made since I got Photoshop back so I'm quite pleased :D

I've finished my first prompt for elyaeru, which eventually became a 2,000 word one-shot, and am in need of a beta-reader! It's a Draco/Hermione fic, rated PG-13.

I just need someone to check over my spelling and grammar for this one-shot... can anyone help me out?

I'm also working on dcrjsnider's prompt, which is a Rose/Scorpius one-shot, and have also been playing around with photoshop a lot. I can't believe how much I missed it! I'll post a bunch of icons soon from HBP, Twilight, Supernatural and possibly other things. :D

So I'm spending my time at home applying for jobs and I just spent most of the evening writing my CV and writing various cover letters.

First thing I noticed - my CV isn't very impressive... There's lots of education stuff but very little actual work (unless you count archaeological experience which is in a separate section). The covering letter, however, is the worst cause I really have to sell myself for jobs that I have little experience in (recording and drawing standing buildings, anyone?). Still, I really want this particular job because it sounds so interesting and the pay is good.

In any case, writing covering letters I found out today is freaking nerve-wracking!! I've never had a serious job before wheere I had to write these so f any of you have any tips or advice about writing them, do tell! :)

Some good news... chapter 14 of Here Without You is up here and chapter 15 is already planned out in my head!

Meh, I'm bored of reading about Neanderthals and cranial morphology for my essay and thought I'd take a break to write some D/Hr drabble.

I've been working on chapter 13 of HWY since I have my notebook again, but like a complete dolt I wrote a whole scene from Hermione's pov instead of Draco's... I completely forgot it was a Draco chapter so I have to re-write the whole section now.

I hope to update the fic sometime this weekend, but I really need to find myself a beta-reader.

Hey peeps! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, I certainly did, although as I already mentioned to some, I spent the night before Christmas throwing up like crazy!! I think it was the mix of oysters, smoked salmon and foie gras... :s Lunch on Christmas day was pretty light for me then since I was scared of being sick again, but the presents definitely cheered me up (I didn't expect half of them!) and with my family, we all ended up going to see Enchanted which I highly recommend! My brother and I couldn't stop laughing (we're really loud as well!) and I thought James Marsden did a terrific job; I never thought he could be so funny.

Since Christmas, I tried doing some coursework... (yeah, as if that was gonna happen) and ended up watching Rome, the tv show, with my mum. She got me the season 1 boxset for Christmas and I'm really enjoying it, except for all the random sex scenes they add in there. Has anyone else watched that show?

Oh yeah, the essays... I've got 2 to hand in when I get back from Paris and I've barely started. One's about Neanderthal skulls whilst the other is about the differences between trepanation and trauma... hmmm, quite morbid I know, but I actually chose those titles! :p

Also, I wrote 500 words last night for chapter 13 of HWY, but I left my notebook in London and so I can't finish the damn chapter till I go back. The most important scene is already all written out in it (its between Draco and Hermione and like an idiot, I can't remember any of it). I was really hoping to finish the chapter before this year. I guess 2007 was really a bad year for me after all.

My mum said my horoscope predicted I would have an amazing 2008. God, I really hope so :)

SpellCast is holding a roundtable for fanfic writers about the release of Deathly Hallows, the final Harry Potter book, and what that means for fanfiction.

Is HP fanfiction on the road to death? How will book 7 affect fanfiction and your own writing? Are all previous fanfictions now considered AU? Will you change the plots to your current fics so that they become compliant with the final book?

With the release of each new book, changes are always brought about in fanfictions and writers must often make a choice as to what to do with their current fics.

Man, it's about time I updated this fic. I refuse to give up on it, cause it's the sequel to my previous fic 'The Dragon, the Lion and the Serpent' which I worked on for two years and am kinda proud of.... beside, along with SpellCast, it's the only good deed I've done in fandom and that I'm known for, so yeah, not giving up.

Also, the whole story for this fic is planned out to a certain extent, it just needs to be written! Anyone else, not being able to finish their fics or constantly being assaulted with writer's block? Seriously, I just have to stop lazing about and write! And I would if it weren't for exam revisions, going to lectures, working on SpellCast, etc, etc.

Well, it sure has been a very long time, but here's the cookie I promised. It's the first part of chapter 12 that I've been working on over the summer. Unfortunately, this hasn't been beta-read yet, so feel free to point out mistakes and such. Once again, I'm sorry about the wait everyone and when chapter 12 is complete, I'll post it on ff.net.

After spending a week at home helping re-decorate the house, a week in hospital with my sick grandfather, a week working on my driving theory (apparently in France you can't start driving lessons until you get your theory test, grrr...) and the rest of my time planning, recording and talking withrobertstandring about Spellcast... I finally decided it was time fo me to update my fanfiction!

It's always hard for me to receive reviews from your readers asking you to update when you have no time or you're away, I feel so guilty for not be able to do it. So now I'm simply going to get my act together again and spend some quality time with HP characters and my OC :)

So expect chapter 12 of Here Without You to be up soon and chapters of The Dragon, the Lion and the Serpent to be re-edited. And once again, thank you for all your reviews guys!
